Purple Star School Designation Application Window Opens Nov. 1

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce will accept applications to become a Purple Star school starting Nov. 1.

The Purple Star designation recognizes schools that show a significant commitment to serving students and families connected to the nation’s armed forces. All applicants must demonstrate a commitment to meeting the unique wellness and academic needs of Ohio’s military-connected youth. A Purple Star school retains its designation for three years, after which the school can reapply. Purple Star schools eligible for a renewal designation will receive an invitation to apply via an email to the school’s military family liaison.

The application window is open from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15. Members of the Purple Star class of 2025 will be announced in April 2025, the Month of the Military Child.
