Check out the new OCALI ATAEM Assistive Technology Internet Module for using speech recognition as Assistive Technology. This resource offers a scaffolded approach to teaching students how to use speech recognition software embedded in their existing technology. At approximately 2 hours for completion, this learning module's objectives are as follows:
- Explain why speech recognition is considered AT for writing for students with disabilities.
- Describe a four-step process for writing with speech recognition.
- Apply eight scaffolded stages for teaching speech recognition to students.
- Apply at least 2 targeted measurements in a pre/post comparison to show the effectiveness of speech recognition as AT for writing.
- Identify implementation strategies to support the integration of speech recognition for schoolwork.
