Universal Design for Learning
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people based on scientific insights into how humans learn. (CAST, 2017)
UDL is a framework for guiding educational practice that:
- provides flexibility in the ways information is presented to learners,
- provides flexibility in the ways learners respond or demonstrate knowledge and skills,
- provides flexibility in the ways learners are engaged in learning,
- reduces barriers in instruction,
- provides appropriate supports, and
- maintains high achievement expectations for all students.
